In 2009, Becky Brackett's conversations with longtime friend Libby Boyden, an interior designer in Savannah, reinforced her belief. Both felt the lighting market had become increasingly interchangeable, and together they saw an opportunity to create something more distinctive.

That same year, Brackett began sketching original fixtures and hanging them in the showroom. Designers responded immediately—offering ideas, requesting modifications, and asking for more. What began as a creative experiment quickly became something larger.

Working with local fabricators during the housing recession, Brackett transformed those early concepts into handcrafted pieces made close to home. One of the first, the Empire Chandelier, was recognized by Garden & Gun, helping introduce the young brand to a broader audience. When the collection debuted at High Point Market, designers embraced the artisan-made approach, natural influences, and ability to customize each piece.

From the beginning, Lowcountry Originals stood apart for lighting that felt collected rather than mass produced—timeless, distinctive, and deeply personal. Inspired by the textures and the forms of the Lowcountry—oyster shell, driftwood, marsh reeds, weathered metal, and organic movement—the collection blended traditional silhouettes with natural materials and hand-finishing.

Today, that founding vision continues through  handcrafted chandeliers, lanterns, pendants, sconces, bed swings, mirrors, and custom statement pieces built in South Carolina for projects nationwide. What began as a regional favorite has grown into a trusted resource for designers who believe the best rooms deserve original solutions.
