A CEU for Design & Trade Professionals
Custom Lighting: How to Balance Design, Safety, and Performance
Event Details
What You'll Take Away
- Distinguish among modifications, semi-custom solutions, and bespoke “napkin sketch” designs so you can specify the most efficient, cost-conscious approach for the project.
- Evaluate structural and site-specific constraints, including weight, mounting, beam placement, clearances, and ceiling conditions, so custom fixtures support safety and code requirements.
- Assess how domestic manufacturing and material choices can affect indoor air quality, circadian health, visual comfort, accessibility, and long-term well-being.
- Translate inspiration into a buildable lighting solution by gathering technical data, coordinating with manufacturers, documenting decisions, and planning for approval, fabrication, delivery, and installation.
